PDF Combiner Chrome Extension

Privacy Policy

Last updated: July 24, 2026

This Privacy Policy explains how the PDF Combiner Chrome extension (“PDF Combiner,” “the extension,” “we,” “us,” or “our”) handles information when you combine PDF files, select files from Google Drive, or save a combined PDF to Google Drive.

PDF Combiner is designed to process PDF files in your browser. We do not operate a server that receives or stores the contents of your PDF files.

Summary

Information the Extension Handles

Local PDF files

When you select or drag local PDF files into the extension, the extension reads their contents, file names, sizes, page data, and selected order solely to display the file list and create the combined PDF. This processing occurs locally in your browser.

PDF links selected through the context menu

If you invoke PDF Combiner from the Chrome context menu on a PDF link, the extension temporarily stores that link URL in Chrome’s local extension storage, opens the extension, downloads the PDF from that URL, and then removes the stored URL. The broad host access permission allows this user-initiated download to work from PDF links on different websites.

Google Drive data

If you choose files through Google Drive, Google provides the extension with the identifiers of the files you selected and an OAuth access token. The extension uses the token to request the selected files and their necessary metadata, including file name, MIME type, size, and download permission. The PDF contents are downloaded directly from Google Drive into the extension for processing.

If you choose “Save to Google Drive,” the extension uploads the combined PDF directly to your Google Drive and receives basic metadata about the created file, such as its file ID, name, and web link. When this option is selected, the extension does not also save the combined file to your local computer.

Preferences and browser information

The extension may store your selected interface language in Chrome’s local extension storage. It may also use ordinary browser information necessary to run, such as the browser language.

Accounts, Payments, Analytics, and Advertising

Account and contact information

Where account, support, newsletter, or feedback features are made available, we may collect information you choose to provide, such as your name, email address, account credentials, preferences, support requests, and feedback. We may use this information to provide and administer the requested service, communicate with you, provide support, prevent abuse, and comply with law.

Payments

Where paid features are made available, payment transactions may be processed by a third-party payment provider. We may receive transaction information such as payment status, product, date, amount, and billing contact details. We do not intend to store full payment-card details ourselves. The payment provider’s privacy policy also applies to information it processes.

Analytics and similar technologies

We may use analytics and similar technologies to understand and improve the Services. Depending on the feature used, this may include browser type, operating system, extension version, device or language settings, approximate region, feature interactions, referring or exit pages, error events, timestamps, and aggregated usage statistics. Analytics information may be processed by service providers acting on our behalf for performance measurement, security, diagnostics, and improvement.

Advertising and communications

We may provide promotional messages or advertising in connection with the Services and may measure their delivery and interaction. Where required, we will request consent and provide available controls. Marketing email recipients may unsubscribe using the link in the message or by contacting us. PDF contents, OAuth access tokens, and information received from Google APIs are not used for personalized advertising and are not transferred to advertising platforms.

Google OAuth Permissions

Google Drive integration uses the OAuth scope https://www.googleapis.com/auth/drive.file. This scope permits the extension to access only Google Drive files that you select with the extension or files that the extension creates. It does not grant general access to all files in your Google Drive.

OAuth access tokens are held in memory for the current extension session and are not written to Chrome storage, logged, or sent to our servers. Google controls token issuance and expiration. You can revoke access at any time from the third-party access settings in your Google Account.

How We Use Information

For PDF combining and Google Drive functionality, the extension uses information only to:

We do not use PDF contents, Google Drive data, or Google account information for advertising, profiling, credit decisions, or any purpose unrelated to the user-facing features described in this Policy.

Google API Services User Data Policy

PDF Combiner’s use and transfer to any other app of information received from Google APIs will adhere to the Google API Services User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

The use of information received from Google APIs will also adhere to the Chrome Web Store User Data Policy, including the Limited Use requirements.

Sharing and Disclosure

We do not sell, rent, or share your PDF contents or Google user data. Data is transmitted to Google only as necessary to authenticate you, retrieve files you selected, or upload a combined file you asked to save. We may disclose information if required by applicable law, but because we do not operate a server that stores your files or OAuth tokens, we generally do not possess those materials.

The extension opens an informational webpage after installation and may open an optional Google Form after uninstallation. Any information you voluntarily submit on an external page is handled under the privacy terms applicable to that page. The extension does not automatically send your PDF files or Google Drive data to those pages.

For account, payment, analytics, advertising, support, or communication features described above, we may disclose relevant non-Google information to vendors that process it on our behalf, subject to appropriate confidentiality and data-protection obligations. We may also disclose information when required by law, to protect users and the Services, or in connection with a business transfer.

Storage and Retention

Security

PDF Combiner uses HTTPS for Google OAuth and Google Drive API communications. Local browser processing and limited OAuth permissions reduce the amount of data exposed. No electronic system is completely secure, but we use reasonable measures appropriate to the extension’s design.

Your Choices and Controls

Children’s Privacy

PDF Combiner is a general-purpose utility and is not directed to children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children.

Legal Bases and Data Rights

Where data-protection law requires a legal basis, we process information as necessary to provide the Services you request, based on your consent, to comply with legal obligations, or for legitimate interests such as security, support, fraud prevention, and service improvement where those interests are not overridden by your rights.

Depending on your location, you may have rights to request access, correction, deletion, restriction, portability, or objection regarding personal information we control, and to withdraw consent. To submit a request, contact us using the address below. You may also complain to your local data-protection authority.

International Data Transfers

Service providers may process non-Google information in countries other than your own. Where required, we use appropriate safeguards for international transfers. Google Drive and OAuth data is transmitted directly between the extension and Google and is also subject to Google’s applicable terms and privacy policy.

Changes to This Policy

We may update this Privacy Policy when the extension’s features or data practices change. We will revise the “Last updated” date when changes are published. Material changes will be communicated as required by applicable law or Chrome Web Store policies.
